WinStar Online Casino - First impressions

You may have heard of WinStar Online Casino. It launched not too long ago in 2018 but has very quickly managed to build up a great reputation. Hearing good things myself, I decided to give it a bit of a test drive, see what all the fuss was about, and of course, report my findings back to you. You’re welcome! Is WinStar a decent casino? Will it match up to its more established competition? Read on to find out.

A bit of background first, WinStar is a London based casino that is available across the UK and Europe. They’re actually the official online presence of the huge WinStar World Casino and Resort, based over in the states. So when I first clicked on to WinStar, I was expecting a flashing neon extravaganza. As it turns out, they prefer to dial the cheese way back – a good decision in my books. It seems that apart from the name, WinStar Online Casino is truly its own animal.

I played on the English version of the site, but there is the option to play in German too if that is your language of choice. I’ve been playing on the site for a few weeks now, so I think I’ve had enough experience with it to put this review together. Hopefully, it helps some of you decide whether to try it out or not – (hint, you totally should!)

Exploring the design

When you first open the site and log in, you’ll be greeted with a sleek, colourful home page featuring easy access links to everything you could possibly want. The design is laid out to gently guide the eye to the most important elements first. A carousel will scroll along showing you new offers and promotions, as well as new and most popular slots. Top tip - I tend to check this carousel on every visit, as the site updates regularly and has new promotions there first. Jackpots, table games, live casino, and instant win are there too, just one click away using the menu at the top, and so is a full list of slots on offer (there are quite a few!). The whole site seems to be very well put together, extremely polished, and consistent in style. If you are after a game that’s not immediately on the show, there’s a great little search bar at the top. Type in the name of the game you’re after instead of scrolling through searching for it. A nice little time saver!

Lots of Content!

The first thing I checked out on WinStar Online Casino was the games! The casino has a sizable selection of games available. Whether you’re into slots, or table games, huge jackpots, or instant wins, you’ll find a very nice library here.

WinStar’s main focus seems to be slots, which is great if you’re me. I think slots are pretty much at the core of any good casino, and luckily they’ve got hundreds of them! Exciting titles from big name providers NetEnt, Scientific Gaming, and IGT. If you’re a fan of slots, you will, of course, recognise Starburst, Rainbow Riches, and Cleopatra, all available on the site. I noticed they are missing a couple of obvious providers such as Microgaming, and Playtech, adding those would make a nice addition to the library. Take note WinStar! But in all seriousness, the library is huge and definitely big enough that you never feel limited or burnt out on a single slot. There’s always something new to try, new slots are added all the time. They’re easy to find, new games are highlighted with a “NEW” label as you’d probably expect. WinStar also features exclusive titles that you can’t find anywhere else, so check those out when you can.

Players after table games will find what they’re looking for too. You haven’t been forgotten! There are plenty of Roulette, Blackjack, and Video Poker games to play. WinStar Online Casino also has some nice variants on all three, Blackjack Super 7’s, both American and European versions of Roulette, and Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild Poker, among others.

If you like table games but the virtual versions just don’t cut it for you, how about you go for WinStar’s range of Live Casino games! I’ve not spent ages playing these, but I had enough of a go that I can safely recommend them to you.

If you’ve not seen this type of game before, Live Casino means you’re essentially watching an interactive video feed of a dealer taking your bets, spinning the roulette wheel, or dealing your cards. The ones on WinStar are available 24/7 in crisp HD and have a chat box allowing you to talk to the dealer and other players. On the Live Casino page, they have well-known table games like Roulette and Blackjack, as well as some other, more obscure games, like War of Bets and Lucky 7.

You can watch these without downloading any new software, and the streams never drop out or crash so you can play with confidence.

Great Bonuses at WinStar Casino

The casino has a nice welcome package. You can see it on the home page of the site, but just to summarise, you’ll get up to £250 in bonuses (depending on how big your first and second deposits are) as well as 100 bonus spins. That’s not bad. Remember when you take part, the bonus is only for brand new players, and if you don’t opt in, you’ll miss it. The wagering requirement is pretty high too, at 45x, but I think it’s definitely worth it for what you get.

Now that’s just to get you in the door, but don’t forget, there are also great offers on the site. They’ll be strolling along on the homepage, and displayed on the site’s dedicated “Promotions” page.

One great thing I’ve noticed about WinStar is that they often email me great offers and freebies. I know how annoying some casino’s barrage of emails can be, but WinStar doesn’t overdo it in the slightest, and I’ve had a lot of nice surprises in my inbox, from offers to bonus spins, to cash bonuses. When you register, be sure to enable email marketing so you don’t miss out.

Mobile gaming

When I review online casinos, I always like to switch devices and see if the site can handle it. Mean? Maybe. Important? Definitely. Mobile compatibility is something that is becoming so vital these days, and being mobile-enabled is usually an important factor in whether I will choose to play at a casino or not. Thankfully WinStar handled anything I threw at it. Desktop, mobile, tablet, I was totally fine on all of them. All the games played just fine, some of them even switched to a landscape version so I could play more easily while holding my phone with one hand. The casino’s full interface changes to keep up with the screen and screen orientation it’s on.

You don’t have to download anything if you don’t want to; the site will work just fine on your normal mobile internet browser. If you are using one of the newer iPhone or Android devices, pay a visit to your app store of choice. There is a WinStar app which makes playing on a smartphone a joy, so you can feel safe playing on WinStar on your morning commute.

Winstar Cash in, Cash out

At WinStar, I found depositing pretty smooth. All the standard options are there, such as VISA, PayPal, Neteller, and Skrill. For withdrawals it gets slightly more restricted; withdrawals are processed quickly, but can only be made to the same payment method as your deposit. So if you haven’t deposited via Skrill yet, for example, you won’t be able to make a withdrawal to Skrill until you do. Not a huge issue by any means but something to bear in mind as you go.

Aside from that, I can safely say in the time I’ve played on WinStar I have never had any major problems getting money in and winnings out of the casino. You’re in safe hands with them.

Loyalty scheme

So, WinStar Online Casino may be great, but what is really unique about it? Well, one of the cool things I’ve found is their loyalty scheme – WinStar Rewards. Easy to miss, information about the scheme is subtly placed in the top bar. It’s more obvious if you’re on a mobile, having a dedicated icon in the bottom menu, but either way, it is definitely worth a look.

It works like this, when you wager on the site, win or lose, you’ll earn “Star Points”. You will also level up, everyone who’s ever played a videogame will be familiar with that concept. The more you wager, the more points you get, the higher your level gets. But what does any of that mean?

Well, there is a “Loyalty Store” where you can exchange your points for rewards. The higher your level, the better rewards you get. At least that’s how it explains it on the site. I’ve only been able to redeem bonus cash for my points, which is nice, but a bit meh. Maybe my level isn’t high enough, or maybe that’s all there is, I’m not sure. I’m just going to have to keep wagering and find out!

The most satisfying part of this loyalty system is that you earn points for wagers, not wins. Which means that if you’re unlucky, you’ll still be earning points which can be used to reclaim some of your losses, maybe not immediately, but definitely over time. Nice one WinStar.

Is WinStar Online Casino Worth it?

All in all, WinStar isn’t just a decent casino, it’s an awesome casino! I really enjoyed the time I spent there. They have definitely earned their good reputation amongst players. They might be a new casino but they have made a very strong start. That’s an encouraging sign of great things on the horizon. They feature great content and always put the player first, so make sure your next stop is WinStar Online Casino. I would 100% recommend you give it a try.
