Dark King: Forbidden Riches (NetEnt)
Dark King: Forbidden Riches is the latest from NetEnt, and the slot doesn’t seem to blend well with the title that the provider has given it.
This video slot offers an extremely dark atmosphere, with a couple of fantasy inspired graphics, involving human skulls.
I was attracted by the promise of forbidden riches, and here is my review:
Dark King: Forbidden Riches has 5x3 set-up, and 20 paylines, which is the common design for most modern slots.
A majority of its features focus on free spins, wilds, sticky wilds, and multipliers.
Betting and Prizes
With as little as $0.20, I was able to get started with the wagers. If you are a risk-taker, or you love the high roller thrill, this slot allows you to use as much as $400 per spin.
Dark King Forbidden Riches pays up to 2,000x the stake, which translates to a possibility of $800,000 per spin. Its RTP of 96.06% is fair and within the average range for modern slots.
Dark King: Forbidden Riches Slot Features
The Wild symbols here are represented by the Blue Orbs. You can use them either on their own as substitutes, or as part of a combination.
Multipliers will come along the way, and you will need several Blue Orb wilds appearing at the same time to boost the multiplier.
Free spins are my favourite part of any slot machine, and they are present on this one too. To trigger them, I needed to land between 3 and 5 scatter symbols, to get between 10 and 15 free spins.
A special hot zone will go into covering the middle part on the 2nd and the 4th reels, alongside a full 3rd reel. Any wild symbol that lands in those areas will become sticky, in addition to adding 1 spare round to the overall collection.
Theme & Design
NetEnt opted for a very dark design, and the developer has used a king of the undead as the slot’s main character.
There are a couple of disturbing images like the human skulls that have been used as part of the decorations. The slot seems to have gone for the Gothic style in its design.
I also came across a few Royals that have been used as lower value icons, and these also have a Gothic influence.
Although the slot has an interesting story, it is not one that will be embraced by all players.
From far, Dark King: Forbidden Riches appears to be a very interesting and fun game to play but in the real sense, it doesn’t quite offer a lot of value.
It is not a slot that is on the same level as other NetEnt video slots, and its dark design does not help things much.
However, it’s a great choice for high rollers, or those players looking for huge returns while risking a big chunk of their bankroll.
