Hyper Star Slot (Microgaming)

Gameburger Studios has partnered with renowned game producer, Microgaming to bring a new slot onboard. The slot goes by the name Hyper Star, and from the look of things, it is clear that the developer is targeting veteran players.

I noticed that Hyper Star is a highly volatile slot, and there are other things about this new slot that I will highlight in the review below:

Game Set-Up

Hyper Star offers 243 ways to win on its 5x3 reels grid. I love the provided features that include free spins, wilds, scatters, multipliers, not to forget the cascading reels.

Betting and Prizes

Placing a real money bet does not have to cost much, and I could place bets of between $0.20 and $40 per spin.

Hyper Star does not perform very badly when it comes to payments, and it is possible to hit wins of up to 7,250x the stake, from a single spin.

The RTP is equally impressive and I find the 96.05% quite fair for a game with such high volatility.

Hyper Star Slot Features

This slot machine incorporates the Rolling Reels mechanic, and with that, the winning symbols are removed and replaced with new ones.

The new symbols may bring along new winning combinations, or even additional Rolling Reels.

A multiplier is the other feature available on the slot, and whenever it is present, it triggers the Rolling Reels. During the regular spins, I could get up to 5x multipliers, while in the free spins, this could increase to as many as 15x.

Wild symbols only appear on three out of the five available reels, and they come in the form of a Star. I love the wild’s work as it can be used to replace the regular symbols, in addition to contributing to the formation of new winning combinations.

In addition to serving as a substitute, the wild gets collected and can be used to trigger the jackpot feature. Through it, players can enjoy one of the available jackpots.

These jackpots are 5,000x the stake (Grand Jackpot), and the two smaller versions are Major and Minor.

I’m always excited to work with free spin because of their potential, and it is during this feature that you can trigger some of the best payouts. With 3+ scatters appearing on the reels, I could trigger between 8 and 32 free spins.

The best part about this feature is that you can retrigger the free spins with the help of those same scatters. During the retrigger, you even get more advantages one being the increase of the multiplier to as many as 15x.

Theme & Design

Hyper Star borrows inspiration from the glitz and glamour common in Las Vegas, and this is evident from the available symbols. Although it has a modern design, the idea is not entirely unique.

On the left side is a jackpot ladder, with lots of symbols present on the 5 reels. These symbols include four-card suit icons made of gemstones, a Chip, a Bell, the Seven, and a Dollar Sign. Stars (wilds) and scatters (Free Spins logo) serve as feature symbols.

Conclusion

Hyper Star is an alright slot machine, and it offers an average experience, from its payouts to the RTP.

However, I find this title too volatile and can only recommend it to more experienced gamers.
