ELK Studios is gifted in creating memorable games, and one such title is Poltava, a video slot that is highly volatile. In history books, Poltava is the battle that happened in 1709, and one which saw the Swedish army suffer serious defeat from Peter the Great.

It is a battle that saw led to the loss of thousands of lives, and this war changed the entire North.

ELK tries to rekindle the memories of what transpired by offering this army-themed slot.  I love history, and this is what prompted me to try out this game. Below is my unbiased review:

Game Set-Up

Poltava plays on 40 pay lines, with a set-up of 5x4. Thee are several symbols on the game, and these include Free Spins, a Respin, and Sticky Wilds.

Betting and Prizes

ELK Studios follows a certain betting range when it comes to a majority of their video slots. This betting range is between $0.20 to $100 per single spin, and it is the same amount allowed on Poltava.

The RTP is 96.4%, and it goes a long way in taming its otherwise high volatility.

The highest possible amount that the slot can pay is 1800 x the stake, which is rather low considering that it has a very high risk given the high volatility.

Poltava Features

With similar battle army symbols taking over an entire reel, the Marching Reel Re-spin will be triggered.

For the free spins, they appear in the image of Lion symbols, and three such symbols will trigger Free spins that come with a sticky wild.

Unfortunately, nothing much happens here, and that is the far you can get with Poltava’s features.

Theme and Design

ELK has borrowed inspiration from several quarters that include War, Soldiers, Historical, Warriors, and the Military among others.

Conclusion

Poltava does not perform very badly, but I would have loved more features here. Also, the highest payout does not go hand in hand with its high volatility.

I can only recommend this video slot to casual players.
