Reef Raider Slot (NetEnt)

Reef Raider Slot (NetEnt)In the second half of 2021, NetEnt has released Reef Raider, a slot machine that it has been working on for several years. Look out for the usual high-end graphics from this developer, as well as good prizes and symbols that have a marine theme.

I had a chance to play this Cluster Pays slot, and this is my unbiased review:

Game Set-Up

Reef Raider uses 7x7 reels for its game area, and the slot offers up to 49-symbols that you can use to form winning clusters.

Major features that NetEnt has considered here include Wilds, multipliers, avalanches, and a meter that you fill up to get free spins, among others.

Betting and Prizes

The slot relies on Cluster Pays and coins, and it is not a complex thing for many gamers. As a real money gamer, the minimum bet that I was allowed to place is $0.20, and the maximum bet is $100 per spin.

Reef Raider's 8,500x jackpot is very attractive, and I’m quite surprised that even with such potential, the developer has given the slot medium volatility, with an RTP of 96.1%.

Reef Raider Features

First and foremost, you'll want to create winning clusters. When you get 5 to 25 or more matching symbols arranged horizontally or vertically, the game pays you.

As soon as these clusters form, avalanches will occur. Similar to other real money slots, the winning cluster is removed to make room for new ones.

Also, a wild symbol is added to the game area where the cluster was originally present, replacing it with the same symbol. It's a good substitute, but it'll disappear after a few avalanches.

While exploring the entire game area, l came across the Treasure Trail. On the left side, you begin with a pirate crab, and you work your way around the reels, collecting winning clusters in a single spin.

This way, I was able to achieve some milestones, eventually triggering modifiers for the round. Free spins are triggered if you reach the end and find the treasure.

A few of the modifiers that I encountered include:

Anchor Drop: up to three low-value symbols will be picked up by Anchor Drop, which will remove them from the game area and cause an avalanche.

There are up to eight randomly placed substitutes in the game's Random Wilds option.

Mystery Chest: as many as 16 mystery symbols can be found in Mystery Chest, and they can be used to replace medium symbols on your reels.

There is then only one type of medium symbol in all of those mystery positions, which increases your chances of getting into a winning combination.

Cannon Blast: Symbols will be selected by Cannon Blast, which will then remove them from wherever they are at the time.

To access the free spins, I had to play through at least rounds. For each round, you will be guaranteed a low or medium value cluster of symbols that comes via Mystery Overlay.

Theme and Design

Basically, it's a mix between a pirate game and a sea creature game. A crab has taken on the role of the pirate captain and is wearing the appropriate hat, hook, and eye patch.

There is a mix of gemstones and marine icons on the reels (shells appearing in different colours). I also noticed a Treasure Trail that circles the game area.

A seabed adorned by plants, coral, and gold coins appears beautifully in the background.

It's a modern slot machine with a lot of cool features and modifiers that keep things interesting. I really enjoyed playing Reef Raider especially due to its good design.

NetEnt has given this title all the great things that a modern gamer would be looking for, and I can recommend it to all levels of players.
