Suncatcher Gigablox Slot (Yggdrasil)

After Lucky Neko, Hades, and Gator Gold, Gigablox is the fourth slot machine to include this unique feature, following closely in the footsteps of titles like Lucky Neko, Hades, and Gator Gold.

All these are titles that were developed by Yggdrasil, a developer who appears to be optimistic about this new concept and its potential benefits.

I don't particularly love its sun ray-inspired theme, neither do I love the many gems present, but as a gamer who loves slots from Yggdrasil, I had to play Suncatcher for real money, and here is my review:

Game Set-Up

Despite this title providing just 10 pay lines, they all pay both ways, which means that there is a total of 20 active pay lines.

It’s a 5- reel slot with several features that include Free spins bonus, Respins, Colossal Symbols, Expanding Wilds, Sticky Wilds, Gigablox, Golden Bet, and Win Both Ways.

Betting and Prizes

I noticed that the volatility of this slot wasn’t very brutal, and it could be the reasons why Yggdrasil has given it a betting range of between $0.10 and $500 per spin.

A Golden Bet option is also available and with it, you can double the amount wagered ($0.20 to $1,000 per spin) in exchange for a threefold increase in chances of landing wild symbols.

I’m not quite impressed with its potential, as the biggest jackpot is just 1,430 xs the stake or a maximum of $715,000 in cash from a single spin. The slot's low-medium volatility, as well as it is 96%) makes it a fair game.

Suncatcher Gigablox Features

One of the most notable aspects of Suncatcher is its use of the Gigablox mechanic, which is even referenced in the game's title itself.

It's a guaranteed set of reels that come synchronised, with 2x2 symbols on them, but with the option to increase the number of reels and symbols to 3x3. You get at least one, but it's possible to find two or three, which means it's not impossible to get three 3x3 symbols and two 2x2 symbols at the same time.

There is an expanding wild that can come and take over an entire column of the game. In addition to being able to substitute, it can also build its own combinations, and it has the potential to take over the available spaces. If that happens, you will be rewarded instantly.

Apart from the part covered by wild symbols, whenever such a symbol lands, you will receive a respin. If you receive an additional wild during that respin, the feature will be extended for one more round, and the process will go on as long as there are new expanding wilds.

Theme and Design

Suncatcher: Gigablox, a game that was allegedly inspired by the sun's rays, ultimately ends up being just another gemstone-themed game.

It is not a decent design, and it is not even an average design for a developer like Yggdrasil, who has earned its excellent reputation on the strength of its designs.

Symbols include the multi-coloured Wild Gem that comes in different colours like pink, red, yellow, green, purple, teal, and blue.

Conclusion

Suncatcher: Gigablox may not have the most visually appealing theme or design, and the RTP is only average. The top jackpot does not do so well either.

On the other hand, the Gigablox mechanic is quite intriguing, and the volatility appears to be appropriate for the payments that are promised. It’s an ideal slot for all level of players.
